Originating Members – Viterra

If you were a member of Viterra on February 17, 2005 your membership was transferred to the Farm Leadership Council (FLC). 

During the 2004/05 recapitalization of Viterra, Viterra’s Board, senior management and delegates wanted to maintain a non-commercial link with producers in the three Prairie Provinces.  Over the course of calendar year 2005 FLC was borne.  On November 3, 2005 FLC was incorporated with 80 delegate positions, 16 member Board of Directors, 16 membership districts across Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, and an office in Regina. 

If you:

  • Are still directly involved in farming as an individual, partnership or as a farming corporation for commercial purposes;
  • Have a desire to enhance your professional development through management skill or  production knowledge;
  • Want to assist in leading or helping with your community’s economic outlook;

FLC is an organization that you may want to belong to.  FLC is an organization that can help you with your farm and community pursuits. 

  • Contact your FLC Director and delegates in your Marketing Center and about topics, questions and ideas that would be of interest to you and your neighbors.
  • Watch for FLC opportunities to obtain production information, management expertise and current or future community ventures in other areas.
  • Visit this web site on a regular basis to find what is being planned for your area, current information and FLC resources.
  • Consider running as a delegate during the October elections beginning in 2007 and every two years thereafter.

FLC is an organization that will provide you with information and skills that you can apply at home and in your community.  FLC is about “Improving the Business of Farming”.  See “Why Join”.

FLC Membership Withdrawal

For individuals who are no longer involved in farming or who would like to withdraw their membership, complete the ‘FLC Original Membership Form’ and check the ‘Withdraw from FLC’ box and send the form to the FLC office by;

Your membership will be rescinded upon receipt of the information in our Regina office.

BYLAW EXCERPT RE NEW OR ORIGINAL TERMINATION

Cessation of Membership – New or Originating

A member’s rights, privileges and interest in the Co-operative cease upon termination of membership in the Co-operative.  Membership shall terminate and cease to exist automatically:

  1. in the case of an individual member, upon his or her death;
  2. in the case of a member that is an entity, when dissolved or wound up;
  3. for a member that no longer meets one of the qualifications as set out in the Member Qualifications outlined below;
  4. upon delivery of written notice by the member indicating that they wish to terminate their membership.

The Co-operative shall also have the right but not the obligation to terminate a membership where the member does not meet the qualifications set out in Member Qualifications.

Member Qualifications re Cessation of Membership
  1. No person who receives a common share as a new member shall be younger that the age of 18;
  2. Each person to whom a common share is sold as a new member is in at least one of the following categories:
    1. An individual or partnership actively engaged in farming within a membership district (Viterra/AgPro Marketing Center) for commercial purposes; or
    2. A farming corporation actively engaged in farming within a membership district (Viterra/AgPro Marketing Center) for commercial purposes.
